Amanda X, Shannen Moser and more will support Girls Rock Philly via the Girls To The Stage comp
Take a bunch of talented woman playing punk music in Philadelphia, put them on a record and you have Girls To The Stage. On April 29, the First Unitarian Church will host the release party for the new compilation and all of the proceeds will benefit Girls Rock Philly, a non-profit mentoring organization that seeks to empower Philly’s young women through music education and activities.
The compilation was a senior project for two University of the Arts students, Lauren DeLucca and Rachel Dispenza (more in this Temple News interview). Recorded at Headroom and MilkBoy studios, it features 90s punk-influenced trio Amanda X, as well as VVeed VVolf, Roya, Mannequin Pussy, Shannen Moser, and Fake Boyfriend. Tickets for the event are available here, and you can listen to Shannen Moser’s soulful acoustic track “Excess” below via the compilation’s Bandcamp. More information for the show can be found on the Facebook event page.
