Most tour videos usually suck but this one with Philly’s Ground Up doesn’t
The Philly hip-hop trio Ground Up recently wrapped up a tour with another one of our favorite hip-hop groups OCD: Moosh & Twist. We had a chance to see Ground Up play the RECPhilly showcase at SXSW in Austin in March with OCD, Chill Moody, Freeway, and others. The group, featuring DJ Bij Lincs, and MCs Malakai and Azar, have been grinding it out the hard way, having fun, and winning lots of fans along the way. Before they went on tour, The Key’s Dylan Otero talked with the band about their music and how they started, meeting at a Temple University.
The show at SXSW was electric and energetic. Philly was well represented on stage, and the room was with filled with a nice mix of fans and supporters from Philly, and fans from all around the country who came to discover the news sounds of Philly. Ground Up recently finished their tour, and are currently working on new material.
For the record, they’ve released a tour video that captures some great moments from their recent performances as well as some terrific behind-the-scenes footage of a group of guys who are as close musically as they are friends. As they say in the video, “it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey,” and from what we see in this video, Ground Up are having one heck of a time.
