Peter Matthew Bauer shares two new songs

Peter Matthew Bauer has been frantically busy since departing his lifelong friends in the Walkmen.

Last year, he released his first solo effort,  Liberation! – a sonic explosion of rushed months of recording over the course of 2013. Now, he’s building on that momentum, working on his next studio album.

This week, he released a new single called “Hold Onto Someone”. It’s a stripped-down version of a song that will appear on the new album. It features just Bauer’s tense, yet soulful voice, and lightly strummed acoustic guitar. There’s also a B-side, a new “guitar” version of his song “You Are the Chapel”. Both were recorded in Boston, Massachusetts at the Soul Shop in front of a live audience and mixed by Elio DeLuca.

The songs are on Bauer’s bandcamp page for $2.

Bauer is also moving out west, and on his way over, he’s doing a series of intimate “Living Room Shows”. You can find the tentative schedule below, and more information on his Facebook (including how you can book his traveling band at your house/venue!)
