The weather is finally heating up and road trips are certainly on the mind. For Air is Human, it was essential that they capture the feeling of summer freedom in their latest EP.

SO1, the band’s second release, features three 8-minute-or-longer songs meant to sound “hypnotic enough that you can put [them] on while you’re on the highway and forget the distance you traveled while listening,” says band member Jeff Lucci. That effect is certainly achieved, with each track creating an atmosphere of zen-like focus. The EP has a sort of electronic feel, though the songs were all recorded using only piano, guitar, drum, and bass.

SO1 changes things up for summer — listen for yourself below, and head to Air is Human’s next show this Saturday, June 27th, at Bourbon and Branch. Details here.
