It’s the end of an amazing era; WXPN Morning Show host Michaela Majoun will host her final shift on Tuesday, June 30th. Michaela started at WXPN on March 1, 1989. Last night at World Cafe Live, her time on the air and contributions to the Philly music, arts and culture scene were recognized during Michaelapalooza, a two and a half hour outpouring of love for Michaela. Before a standing room only crowd of WXPN listeners and members, Philly local favorites Mutlu, Birdie Busch and LisaBeth Weber with John Beacher each performed several songs.

The Headlong Dance Theater debuted a moving video created for the show presented by David Brick. Harry Shearer, Francis Dunnery and Richard Thompson were represented by videos they made for the evening. The speakers included Sister Mary Scullion from Project Home, Annie Haslam of Renaissance, arts curator Eileen Tognini, poet Thomas Devaney, former WXPN General Manager Vincent Curren, the Dean of Folk Music – Gene Shay, writer, illustrator and humorist Flash Rosenberg, along with a group of XPN Morning Show volunteers.

Michaela’s final broadcast will be open to the public tomorrow morning. Tuesday, June 30th from 7a.m. to 10 a.m. ET at World Cafe Live upstairs. Below, check out a gallery of photos and a video with Michaela about her 25 plus years as the host of the Morning Show.
