The Sidekicks, All Dogs, Lithuania and MARGE put on a stand-out show at PhilaMOCA
It isn’t too often I can say a show felt curated perfectly. However, each band on Friday’s bill at PhilaMOCA seemed meant to play together. The evening started off with hard-hitting Philly punk rockers MARGE. If you haven’t yet checked them out yet, I suggest you do so: if you can swing it, see them live. This band put on a dynamic performance that had audience members captivated from start to finish.
Next up was Lithuania, the Philly supergroup that joins members of Dr. Dog (Eric Slick) and DRGN King (Dominic Angelella). The band had a lot to celebrate this night, as it had just released its debut album on Lame-O Records a week prier. Lithuania mixes catchy lyrics with heavy instrumentals, and Hardcore Friends is sure to be one of the stand out punk releases this year.
Lithuania wasn’t the only band with new music to bring to the table this night. Columbus, Ohio’s All Dogs has a new album called Kicking Every Day that was made available streaming just a few days prior. The band used this show as an opportunity to play some new material and its catchy indie pop sounds had the audience singing along.
Last was The Sidekicks, also hailing from Columbus, Ohio. The band’s live performance was simply outstanding, captivating the crowd with one great song after another. The band also gets bonus points for their insane cover of Prince’s “Kiss” – watch a video of it below and check out a gallery of photos from the whole night.
