Indie punkers Titus Andronicus cold barely wait for their introduction to be over to start rocking out during today’s Free at Noon concert at World Café Live. The band hailing from Glen Rock, New Jersey burst onto the stage with a palpable sense of urgency, one that they maintained for the entire show.

Punk music is often just as much about energy as the musical style, and Titus Andronicus, namely lead singer Patrick Stickles, has energy in spades. Instead of any banter or small talk between songs, the band kept things rolling from one jam to the other, stopping only briefly to toy with the audience. Stickles even ditched the guitar for band’s self-titled track, “Titus Andronicus,” to bring the action into the audience, dancing around and enjoying himself almost as much as the nearly full World Café Live audience.

Titus Andronicus, whose album The Most Lamentable Tragedy is out now on Merge Records, will bring their unique mix of punk intensity and inventive style to a sold-out crowd at First Unitarian Church tonight at 8 p.m; tomorrow they play an instore at Creep Records. Check out a gallery from today’s Free at Noon and the setlist below.
