Air Is Human explores the changing seasons on Equinox 2
Philadelphia-based experimental rock duo Air Is Human is set to release its third EP in the form of a concept album surrounding the changing of seasons. Equinox 2 will be released on Wednesday, September 30th, exactly one week after the autumnal equinox.
Recorded with only bass, guitar, drums, and a Fender Rhodes – along with field recordings of falling rain – this four-track EP will inspire you to curl up with a blanket, a book, and a warm cup of coffee or chai, and watch rain splatter off of crispy brown leaves and soaked branches. While the second track, “Ryogen,” feels like a cozy day inside protected from the elements, the closing track “Shu” feels like a long walk on a brisk, sunny day, playfully stirring together warm bass tones with crisp snares and high hats.
Altogether, the EP feels simultaneously intimate and expansive, like a deep breath of cool autumn air. Listen to “Build Pyramids” below. Air Is Human will be performing at Kung Fu Necktie on September 30th, and will be playing a residency at Ortlieb’s during the month of October, on the 8th, 15th, and 22nd, as well as playing Ortlieb’s Halloween show on October 31st.
