Late last month, we at WXPN were lucky enough to welcome Calma Carmona into the studio to play a few songs as a part of the World Café Latin Roots series .

The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter brought a style all her own, singing in a style the blends both old-school soul, elements of hip-hop and rock. “Save Me” — which you can watch below — shows Carmona’s power as both a vocalist and performer as she is equally adept at both showing off her powerful rock and roll growl as she is at the emotionally charged and understated. In addition to “Save Me,” watch “Do You,” and listen to her performance with Cafe host David Dye. Carmona recently released a new EP, Presentiment.
