Boston-by-way-of-Upstate-NY folk punk band Animal Flag released their second EP, properly titled EP 2, last week via Broken World Media/1997 Recordings. In true Animal Flag form, the EP is packed with roomy drums, reverberated vocals, bass slides, and guitar leads that will get stuck in your head for days. The songs, which are darker than the band’s previous work, explore religion, reclaiming lost love, and family. Singer Matt Politoski, of whom Animal Flag is the brainchild, beautifully crafts lyrics that reveal his innermost thoughts. Listen to EP 2 from Animal Flag after the jump.

Catch them this Sunday night at Stone Cold Castle in South Philly with Hopeless Records’ Young and Heartless, Philly’s Robins, and Doylestown’s Piranha.
