PREMIERE: Queen of Jeans get heavy on “Rollerdyke”
Queen of Jeans were instant hits back in October when they released their debut single “Dance (Get Off Your Ass)” – its retro sound and catchy hook were a great introduction to the self-dubbed denimcore outfit. Today we have the premiere of a second single, the high-speed “Rollerdyke.”
Like “Dance,” “Rollerdyke” comes from Queen of Jeans’ forthcoming debut EP. And while the retro aesthetic is still present, this song takes those vibes in a heavier, rockier direction. From the opening squeal of feedback to the final crash of cymbals, this song doesn’t take a second to catch its breath. It’s probably what you would want to put on after a long day at work when you’re ready to punch a wall (or hit the roller rink).
Though this project is fairly new, the members of Queen of Jeans are familiar faces around town. You’ll recognize lead singer Miriam Devora from The Interest Group and lead guitar player Matheson Glass from Work Drugs. Rounding out the group are Nina Scotto on bass and Patrick Wall on drums.
Queen of Jeans have a handful of shows coming up, including a gig with Tutlie and Northern Arms at Everybody Hits on December 12th; a record release show at Kung Fu Necktie on January 30th; and February 19th at Johnny Brenda’s with Church Girls and Madalean Gauze.
