Bradford Cox entered the stage in two forms Sunday, Dec. 6 at the Union Transfer in Philadelphia. He played a noisy, unnerving set as Atlas Sound, and later emerged as what most people know him as – the satirical and often unpredictable frontman of Deerhunter. The audience got their money’s worth as Deerhunter played a lengthy set, and then reemerged for what felt like an eternal encore. At the request of a young fan, the band spent forty minutes relearning the title track to 2013’s Monomania. After a failed attempt at the song, they eventually pulled it off, thanked everyone and disappeared off stage.
