Philly noise-rockers Nothing packed the house at Boot and Saddle on New Years’ Eve, and as you can tell from the above Instagram, there was an element of chaos to it. But there was also a road test of new material from Tired of Tomorrow, the sophomore LP they’re releasing this year on Relapse Records.

Like Nothing’s best, “Vertigo Flowers” is loud and heavy. But there’s also a catchy, poppy and dare-I-say optimistic melodic undercurrent to it, something that feels new for the band that been quite successful pushing volume and mood to the extremes. It’s hooky like Teenage Fanclub, with a strong dose of Nothing’s trademark soundscaping.
