The avalanche of new music continues to flow into our offices here early in 2016.  Here are a few of the things I can’t wait to spin this Monday night on our New Music Show:

“Dust” by PARQUET COURTS

Once again, the DIY indie punk rockers somehow manage to write a song that steers clear of the main stream, but at the same time is as infectious as any song on the radio.

“Akhar Zaman (This Moment)” by BOMBINO

One of the highlights from last year’s #XPNFest, the Nigerien singer & guitarist BOMBINO is back!  His guitar playing is nothing short of sublime as you’ll hear on the first song from his new album Azel coming in April (produced by Dave Longstreth of Dirty Projectors)

“Hurtin’ (On the Bottle)” & “Desperate and Depressed” by MARGO PRICE (FIRST IMPRESSION)

For tonight’s “First Impression” artist, all I can say is THANK GOD for good country music!  With the likes of Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves, Sturgil Simpson and tonight’s featured artist MARGO PRICE there is hope for country music.  She’s from Nashville, Tennesse and her solo debut, Midwest Farmer’s Daughter, is coming out on Jack White’s Third Man Records in March.  We’ll play two in a row tonight from Margo for our “First Impression”.

“Ophelia” by THE LUMINEERS

And I can’t forget to play, “ho … hey” the new one from The Lumineers:
