Legs Like Tree Trunks try to overcome paranoia on new EP Happenstance
Philly indie rock group Legs Like Tree Trunks have just released their new EP, Happenstance, featuring two new songs and a re-recording of an older song, “Dick Whitman.” On the title track, the band channels Pavement by creating a loose, guitar-heavy rocker overlayed with singer Matt Holden’s Malkmus inspired-vocals.
The breezy “Goop” places the countryside next to the sea, creating a thick harmonic haze that builds into something much more cathartic. “Dick Whitman” sees the band struggling with identity in ways only a certain Mad Men character could relate to (no spoilers here).
Legs Like Tree Trunks’ most recent release was 2012’s Future Reference. Check out their Key Studio Session here.
