Marv Mack celebrates West Philly in new “Own Crib” video
Local rapper Marv Mack debuted a new video for “Own Crib” on Russell Simmon’s All Def Digital earlier this week. The track is from Mack’s recent Golden Band-Aids release and takes on a 90s Fresh Prince vibe through the video’s multi-media aesthetic.
It’s a summer afternoon in West Philly and Marv Mack wants to hang out with a girl who just moved into her own apartment. As he walks down the street we see the El pass by overhead, a dream team of Questlove, Black Thought and Larry Gold playing at Underground Arts and a quick nod to the Mural Arts Project. And based on the cameo of the S.P. Donut Shop we know he’s near the 52nd El station. It’s a slice-of-life homage to everyday life in the city that is easy to appreciate.
Check out the clip below, which was created by using still photos, paper art, green screen effects and animation.
