Mount Moriah release video for “Precita,” play Boot & Saddle this week
Non-COMM alums Mount Moriah have released a video for “Precita” taken from their new How to Dance LP. It opens with a young girl jumping rope, but as the camera pulls back the scene changes to the slow-motion (and comical) aftermath of a bank robbery. Director Fidel Ruiz-Healy spoke with Southern Living about the video, saying:
“Placing the video right after a bank robbery was my way of capturing that feeling of a lost love,” says Fidel. “It’s an exciting time when you made brash decisions and never knew where you’d end up, and looking back, it only felt like a brief moment. I wanted the style of the video to have this nostalgia and romance and feel like a snapshot in a forgotten photo album: you get little exciting glimpses and pick out small details, but you can’t ever know the whole story outside the frame.”
Watch the clip below and stay tuned for a World Cafe session with Mount Moriah when the show presents its Sense of Place: North Carolina feature. They play Boot & Saddle on March 12th; tickets and information can be found here.
