Check out the lovelorn new song from Former Belle, “I Woke Up In Chicago”
Former Belle, the acoustic folk project of singer-songwriter Bruno Catrambone, have shared the first song from their upcoming EP, Foreign Bed, via Elmore Magazine.
Catrambone records and performs with Former Belle when he’s not playing guitar for CRUISR. On “I Woke Up In Chicago” (which the band performed for their session with the Key back in February), the band sounds reminiscent of Wilco’s softest moments (and not just because they are singing about Chicago).
Catrambone’s heartbroken lyrics melt into a slow-rolling acoustic number adorned with piano and strings that could easily have found a place on Sky Blue Sky, while at the same time still bringing their own style and sound to the table. When Catrambone sings, “You take off your shoes and climb into a foreign bed”, his longing and desolation for a lost love are present within the recording.
The band will be performing their EP release show for Foreign Bed on April 29th at The Foundry with The Lawsuits. More information for that show can be found here.
Foreign Beds is out this Spring on RandM Records. Listen to “I Woke up In Chicago” be Former Belle here, and download the Key Studio Sessions version of it below.
