Mutemath played an energized set to a sold-out Union Transfer

Modern rockers Mutemath played an awesomely upbeat set a sold-out crowd at Union Transfer on Friday night. The band is currently on a worldwide tour in support of their recently released fourth full-length album, Vitals, their first LP in four years. Band members Paul Meany (lead vocals, keyboards, keytar), Darren King (drums, percussion), Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas (bass, vocals), and Todd Gummerman (guitar, vocals) showcased the latest music from Vitals, as well as favorites pulled from their back catalog.

Mutemath’s performance was complete with great lighting and light effects, a lively delivery, crowd surfing, and interactions with the audience. Throughout the entire set, the crowd was immersed in the show, dancing and singing along.

Nashville indie-rock band Paper Route opened the show with an entertaining set. Lead vocalist J.T. Daly, bassist Chad Howat, and guitarist Nick Aranda played a mix of electro-pop influenced music, including a few new songs that will be included on their upcoming LP. The songs ran the emotional gamut, and there was a nice variety in the pace of their set. Paper Route’s performance was a great way to open the show.
