Experimental Hip-hop label Deadverse Recordings has signed Philly’s John Morrison – a producer and DJ, in addition to a contributing writer here at The Key. Morrison will be releasing his debut album of instrumental hip-hop titled SWP: Southwest Psychedelphia.

According to Morrison, SWP: Southwest Psychedelphia is an “audio ‘Day in the Life’ journey through Morrison’s Southwest Philadelphia neighborhood.” The record will combine elements of both hip-hop and psychedelic textures along with live recordings and samples.

Morrison said of SWP:

“I wanted to make pieces of music that were cinematic, capturing the energy and feeling of my neighborhood. The album is basically a day in the life story but it’s also the story of my life over the past year. Going to work, making Music, going to the store, digging up weird old records etc.”

SWP: Southwest Psychedelphia will be out this summer digitally and via cassette. For more information, follow this link to Deadverse’s website.
