Bob Dylan to channel Sinatra again on Fallen Angels, shares first single
The legendary Bob Dylan works in phases: He had his early folk-hero days, his “Dylan goes electric” period, the born-again Christian era. In the past couple years however, he’s shown a new face: The ghost of Frank Sinatra. Dylan’s last album, Shadows In The Night, was composed entirely of Sinatra standards and he has just shared the details of his next.
Fallen Angels, which is out May 20th, will also be made up of mostly Sinatra covers. Dylan has shared the first single, “Melancholy Mood”, a smooth jazz take on an early Ol’ Blue Eyes b-side. It may not be the same Dylan that changed so many lives, but it is still quite pleasant. Nothing wrong with that.
Bobby D will be returning to Philly on June 13th to play the Mann Center along with Mavis Staples. For tickets and more information, check out the XPN Concert Calender.
