MTV unearthed a previously unseen video of Replacements members Tommy Stinson and Paul Westerberg waxing poetic about the band’s past, future and the music climate of the 80s in general.

They’re a little drunk and prone to giggling as they discuss their aversion to making music videos, something they had just done for “I’ll Be You” off of ’89’s Don’t Tell a Soul. Stinson and Westerberg also laugh about the prospect of the band maturing and cleaning up their act before knocking R.E.M., praising Cocteau Twins and attempting to gaze into the crystal ball to determine how the 80s would be remembered. (The were right about their records being revered – maybe not so much about R.E.M.’s.)

Tommy Stinson will perform at this year’s XPoNential Music Festival, happening July 22nd – 24th at Wiggins Park and Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden. Tickets and information can be found here. Watch the interview via MTV below.
