Speedy Ortiz drops new song “Death Note” and announce upcoming EP
It’s a busy time to be Speedy Ortiz. The Massachusetts quartet starts a tour with Philly’s own Hop Along in Asbury Park tonight (check out the dates below), and just released a new track. “Death Note” is the first song revealed off the upcoming EP Foiled Again, out June 3rd on Carpark Records.
The catchy chorus of this anime-inspired track masks a darker meaning. In a press release published on Pitchfork, front woman Sadie Dupuis said, “the song is about writing though your depression as a way to get better, and how in that way a death note can be kind of love letter to yourself.”
Take a listen to “Death Note” below — we think you’ll love it.
