Violent Soho’s first North American tour in six years brings it to Philly this fall
It’s been six long years since they were last here, but Australian punks Violent Soho are finally coming back to North America. This fall, they’ll headline a 14-date tour with Chicago punk trio Meat Wave, including a September 10th stop at Underground Arts’ Black Box. Both bands are signed to SideOneDummy Records.
The last time Violent Soho was stateside, they opened for bands like Dinosaur Jr. and Alice in Chains. Their rise to headline status started in 2014, when their album Hungry Ghost reached #6 on the Australian Recording Industry Association charts. This year, they eclipsed that mark with WACO — the album hit #1 in its first week out. The band has said WACO takes the concept of self-destruction, which was so prevalent on Hungry Ghost, and reflects it in a way that questions one’s surroundings.
“Like Soda” is the first single off WACO. Watch its hilarious, bocce-filled music video below, and head here for tickets to the upcoming tour, on sale Friday.
