Lord Huron has a way of capturing one’s imagination and running wild with it. Leading listeners on a journey that elicits the need for adventure in us all. On Monday night, those winding paths and twisted trails led to a sold out crowd at The Fillmore.

Opener Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats complemented Lord Huron with an often soulful and upbeat folk rock. The expressive Rateliff captivated with a joyous spirit from the first note as he danced all cares away. After a full 90 minute set, it culminated with the breakthrough single “SOB” which left everyone wanting more — a crowd truly warmed up for the main act.

Lord Huron took the stage at 10:30 with radio static blasting through the speakers as we were tuned to Strange Trails, the band’s latest album and prominent theme for their live shows. Ben Schneider and gang have been frequent visitors to the Philadelphia area over the past year in support of Strange Trails, and it was refreshing to hear new arrangements for some of their most notable songs.

Where Schneider and band stood out most, though, was in the quality of the material. The setlist for the evening was enchanting from start to finish and was capped off with beautiful renditions of “Ghost On The Shore” and “She Lit A Fire.”
