Saturday at World Cafe Live: Johnny Showcase presents Prom Forever benefiting CJD research
If you thought prom season was over, think again. On Saturday night downstairs at World Cafe Live, Johnny Showcase presents Prom Forever, a benefit for CJD research. So dust off that formal wear and get ready for a prom experience that tops anything high school had to offer.
CJD, short for Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease, is a degenerative neurological disease that can take a life away within weeks of when symptoms are first encountered. The rare disease affects approximately just one in a million people. Prom Forever is in memory of John Sweeney, a victim of CJD in 2013.
Johnny Showcase and the Mystic Ticket will headline the groovy night, with special guest performances from Birdie Busch, Nik Greeley, Red 40, and DJ sets from DJ Robert Drake.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the CJD Foundation. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of show, and can be purchased here. With such a great cause to benefit, and a dynamic lineup like this one, the move is obvious for Saturday night. If for some reason you need a little extra motivation, see below — We’ve got Johnny Showcase’s session recorded right here at WXPN, Birdie Busch’s brand new LP Thunder Bridge, and Nik Greeley’s Town Gypsy EP.
