This Friday at PhilaMOCA: the ‘MURICA! opening night reception featuring LeBon LeBon, Less is Modern, and Dead
PhilaMOCA is gearing up to start its annual ‘MURICA! art exhibition, and nothing gets the party started quite like a concert. This Friday, July 1st, the patriotic show gets kicked off with an opening night reception that includes live music from LeBon LeBon, Less is Modern, and Dead.
The reception will start at 6, with the musical portion of the evening beginning at 7:30. Admission is completely donation-based, and all proceeds go to the acts performing.
As for the art exhibit, ‘MURICA! will run through the end of the Democratic National Convention, which wraps up July 28th. Every piece is related to America in some thematic sense, whether patriotic or not.
To get a sense of what you’re in for from the bands, check out what we’ve dropped in below:
LeBon LeBon, a band that started for real after they produced the humorous holiday single “All I Want For Christmas Is Megan Fox,” has a recent song called ” Life is a Party (You Make Me Feel ((Forever Young)) )” that will actually require you to dance to it.
Less Is Modern offers a minimalist approach to synth pop. The project is the work of long time music man Mike Robinson of acts such as Aspera, King God, and Holland Boys.
As for Dead, well, I’ll just say this: they have an EP entitled Snowed In: The Twisted Tale of The Trials and Tribulations Through the Frozen Hemisphere Amusement Park, By God of the Winds of the Late Rupert T. Poot (1865-2013) a tribute to santa clause esq. by dead feat. Rupert “Roopty” Poot. Check out their more recent work on Ralph.
Needless to say, it should be a worthwhile and entertaining night. For any more information, head over to the event’s Facebook page.
