The Marcus King Band added to the lineup at the XPoNential Music Festival
Blues rocker Marcus King and his band have been added to the lineup at the XPoNential Music Festival on Sunday, July 24th at Wiggins Park.
With blues as his inspiration, the guitarist and singer recently released his debut album Soul Insight on Warren Haynes’ Evil Teen records. You’ll hear touches of Haynes’ intense blues rock in King’s extraordinary guitar playing and soulful vocals, however the Greenville, South Carolina native is carving out his own path in the world of blues rock.
A guitar prodigy, the young guitarist recently played an incendiary show at World Cafe Live. King’s biggest musical influence is his father; Marvin King & the Blues Revival have been a staple of the Carolina music scene, and Marcus started playing with his dad’s band when he was just 11 years old. Along with his dad, King cites Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, and Jimi Hendrix as his heroes.
Below, download a free sampler from King recorded live at Rockwood Hall, and watch he and the band perform a cover of the Allman Brothers’ “Hot Lanta” with Haynes at Mountain Jam.
Early bird pricing for the XPoNential Music Festival ends Monday, July 11th. Get tickets to #XPNFest here.
