PREMIERE: Frontyards share new single “Christian & Carlito”
Today we’re premiering “Christian & Carlito,” a new track from local outfit Frontyards. The song comes from the band’s forthcoming Carlito LP, out July 30th and following last summer’s People That Look Like Their Pets debut.
“Christian & Carlito” is a song that will resonate with anyone trying to get a grasp on their life circumstances. It opens with the lyrics “I wanna do things but it’s so damn hard / It’s so much easier to do nothing at all” before spiraling into the chorus of “I know now / It’s all downhill from here.” Be it a moment of clarity or an acknowledgment of apathy, that feeling of being stuck in a cyclical rut is universal.
Sonically, the track is a slow-burner that is forlorn and resigned in a catchy kind of way. Gang vocals at the chorus encourage feelings of camaraderie and understanding, like everyone’s in the same boat (especially when you’re singing along in a musty basement with your friends after spending your last $5 to get into the show). A beautiful horn part comes in at the end, offering up a bit of optimism that things will get better.
Carlito is out July 30th, and the band will celebrate its release at Goldilocks Gallery on August 5th. More information for the all-ages show can be found here.
