The Rentiers share new single “Don’t Go to College”
The Rentiers are back with a catchy and quippy new song called “Don’t Go to College,” released on Bandcamp late last week. It’s the latest in slow string of singles that have been popping up since last year, falling in after December’s spacey “The Early 2000s.”
Though the players on this track are a bit different from previous efforts, the centerpiece of The Rentiers has always been Joel Tannenbaum’s lyrical acumen and that is still the case. With bubblegummy backing vocals and an upbeat power pop angle (and the occasional tasteful synth wiggling its way through), the Plow United bassist masks the deeper quarter-life crisis scenarios his characters are experiencing as they prepare to strike out on their own.
