PeteJoe Urban rejoins the Creepoid family; playing Union Transfer with Drive Like Jehu
One thing we should aways remember about Creepoid – as dark and heavy and occasionally macabre as they get, they’re family. And we don’t say that just because vocalist / bassist Anna Troxell is wed to drummer Pat Troxell; their bandmates Sean Miller and founding guitarist PeteJoe Urban all grew up together in the Montgomery County burbs – they’re literal lifelong friends.
Which is why we’re excited to note that Urban is back in the fold. He parted ways with his old mates a couple years back, when they relocated to Savannah for the making of the stellar Cemetery Highrise Slum and went on a relentless run of nonstop touring. He kept musically active, though, with the experimental project Noema — and stayed close with his old friends, who brought Nick Kulp on board to fill his slot.
With Kulp’s recent departure, however, the band announced this week that Creepoid is back to the core founding four-piece. “His first show will be on Sat Aug 6th @ Babys All Right,” says the band. “Then Tue Aug 9th @ Union Transfer with Drive Like Jehu. Looking Forward to the future. Stay High.”
Hell yeah. Get more information on the Philly gig with Drive Like Jehu at the XPN Concert Calendar, and listen below to a great bit from the vaults: Creepoid destroying on their song “Enabler” for nine and a half minutes from The Key Studio Sessions Volume 1, recorded way back in 2011. I remember recording this and watching Urban writhing on the floor, getting his guitar to make all manner of unearthy sounds. So good; welcome back, PeteJoe.
