Mick Jenkins, back with a new single, will “Spread Love” at The Foundry in October
Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins unloaded a ton of new info on us this week. For starters, he’ll be swinging by The Foundry at The Fillmore on Saturday, October 15th for a Red Bull Sound Select show with support from St. Louis rapper Smino. It’s just one date on his A Quest For Love tour that will hit 12 cities this fall. Plus, the cross-country journey is paired with the release of Jenkins’ latest, The Healing Component, due out September 23rd via his own label, Free Nation. Wednesday, we got the first taste of the project with lead single “Spread Love.”
Jenkins says the album title is a reference to love being the quintessential component to healing. In regards to the tour, he says he’s,
“Just trying to see how much love is out there in the world in a time where we need it the most. It’s so easy to hate, have a negative opinion. I want to actively talk about love – what it is, what it means to people, what it looks like and in just mere conversation that energy might be transferred. But with the music, that is precisely what we aim to do.”
Tickets to the Mick Jenkins’ Red Bull Sound Select show are on sale now. You can RSVP and grab ’em for just $3 by heading here. Now, open up your heart and listen to “Spread Love” below.
