Queen of Jeans are the rulers of retro pop: check out their cover of Roy Orbison’s “In Dreams”
XPN Fest veterans Queen of Jeans just released a killer cover of the late American rock n’ roll artist Roy Orbison’s “In Dreams.” The track, which is featured on and all female compilation album released by Swell Tone & Z Tapes entitled Summer Of Sad, was recorded at Philly’s Sleepless Sound Studios as reported by Tour friends at The Deli Philly.
Although lead singer Miriam Devora (obviously) isn’t able to emulate the distinct baritone of Orbison, she makes the song her own. The nuances of Devora’s voice are those of a different time which is a fairly usual feat for this retro pop inspired group. This is a cover that is most definitely worth a listen, and should be commended for bringing a classic tune back into the public eye.
