For the 41st installment of the bi-weekly Dan and Dan Music Podcast, the Dans return for a State of the Genre Address on country music. Over the course of an hour, they’ll lament the plague that is “Bro-Country” and predict the impact of artists like Chris Stapleton and Sturgill Simpson.

As usual, they begin the show with their rapid-fire takes on music news, which this time around range from The Desert Trip Festival to the auctioning of Prince’s guitar. The episode also features an interview with Luke Lewis, the former CEO of Universal Music Group Nashville and founder of Lost Highway Records. Lewis is perhaps best known for working with Shania Twain, but he has also helped foster the careers of artists like Ryan Adams and Lucinda Williams, It’s a must-listen for any country fan, casual or otherwise.
