Dark Blue makes us reflect with new single “I Never Wanted To Hurt You”
Philly punks Dark Blue are back at it again, bringing their bite on “I Never Wanted to Hurt You”, the lead single off of their new record Start of The World, a self-described “pop album that makes no apologies,” out November 4th on 12XU Records.
It’s a call back to those wonderful ’80s gothic power pop anthems, opening with crunching guitars and a pounding simple beat, bruiting lead vocalist John Sharkey III creates a well set-up call back to Ian Curtis and brings you into his dismantled world.
In a “soundtrack of a decaying United States”, Sharkey wants to find his place, “I’m living a life with nobody in mind” leads off a reflection on who Shakey is, where he is in life, and who’ve he’s used. Shown when he hooks us with “I never wanted to hurt you”, he perfectly captivates his world in a country searching for its identity. Maybe this is the type of therapy we all need right now.
Listen to the single below, and make sure to catch them on November 4th, as they celebrate their record release at Everybody Hits Batting Cages. More information on the show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
