Bellows steps out of the bedroom into the big city with “Thick Skin” video
Bellows began as the solo, bedroom project of Oliver Kalb. It’s since blossomed to include a full live band, and that change seems to be reflected in the expansive sound of his new record, Fist & Palm. The album has been out for almost a month now, but they’ve just shared a new clip for one its singles, “Thick Skin”. It’s a colorful, quirky little track that harkens back to mid-aughts indie pop like Youth Lagoon and The Postal Service.
The Rob Kolodny directed video features Kalb exploring New York intercut with him and his band performing live. The cinematography is drop-dead gorgeous, creating a world that almost feels surreal at times. In the video’s final moments, Kalb shares lip-syncing duties with label mate Eskimeaux, who also features in Bellows’ live band. You can stream it below.
Bellows is currently on tour with PWR BTTM and Lisa Prank. This November 22nd, they’ll make a stop at PhilaMOCA to perform songs from the new album. You can find tickets and more information at XPN’s Concert Calendar.
