Listen to a hip Halloween playlist from World Cafe

Halloween is one of the most musically distinctive holidays out there. Sure, it’s easy enough to soundtrack your day with the much-derided “Monster Mash” or the equally obvious “Thriller.” But here at WXPN, we prefer to go a little deeper than that.

World Cafe contributing host Talia Schlanger put together a 40-song, 165-minute “Hip For Halloween” playlist over at NPR Music, and it runs the gamut from the great David Bowie (“Scary Monsters”) to Ryan Adams (“Halloweenhead”) and Kanye West ft. Nicki Minaj (“Monster”), Philly’s RJD2 (“The Horror”), The White Stripes (“Little Ghost”) and more.
