Downbeat electropop faves The xx release their latest record, I See You, on January 13. The first single we heard from it, the expansive and upbeat “On Hold,” featured a chopped and warped sample of Hall & Oates “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do).” Today, the band released a new song, “Say Something Loving,” that notches the pace down a few BPMs closer to The xx speed we’re used to, but the music retains a shimmering and optimistic quality.
See You is the London trio’s first new album since 2012’s Coexist. The band – Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith, recorded the album in multiple locations including New York, Marfa TX, Reykjavik, Los Angeles and London.
