London Grammar return with dramatic new single “Rooting For You”
British electropop trio London Grammar has returned with “Rooting For You,” their first new song in a few years. We last heard from them in 2014, but the band is sounding as intimate and atmospheric as ever. You can stream the epic performance video below, but if your day becomes exponentially more cinematic, don’t come crying to me.
Fans of London Grammar’s previous efforts will have no trouble getting into “Rooting For You.” Dan Rothman’s guitar and Dominic Major’s keyboards are still providing a dramatic backdrop for Hannah Reid’s angelic voice, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing new going on here. An extended a cappella section in the front half is a gutsy move, but it pays off when the lavish instrumentation finally kicks in. This time around, they’ve brought an entire chamber orchestra along for the ride, elevating their already expansive sound to new, soaring heights.
The group has yet to announce plans beyond “Rooting For You”‘s release, but with the promise of “New Year, new music” on their social media, but we expect to hear more from them soon.
