Abi Reimold, Three Man Cannon, Cayetana, Swanning, and more support ACLU with covers compilation
Musicians from across the country have coming together for Don’t stop now: a collection of covers. The thirty-eight track set, which benefits the ACLU, is stacked with Philly acts the likes of Abi Reimold, The Menzingers, Cave People, and more performing lo-fi covers of some of their favorite tracks. The creators of the project elaborated on its timely release and title in a quote on their Bandcamp page.
This compilation is an expression of love, anger, hope and protest on inauguration day. Let it serve as a reminder that the fight for justice is not over, that the celebration of diversity is essential to progress, that we must work together for what is fair and good. Can’t stop. Won’t Stop. Don’t stop now.
Whether it’s Matt Schimelfenig’s (Three Man Cannon) fuzzy rendition of Beatles deep cut “I’m Only Sleeping” or Hurry’s bright-eyed take on New Order’s “Love Vigilantes,” Augusta Koch of Cayetana’s “Love Love Love” by The Mountain Goats or Swanning’s take on “After The Gold Rush” by Neil Young there’s bound to be something here for you to get into. If by some bizarre chance there isn’t, donate anyway–I can tell you’re a good person from the other side of your computer screen. You can download the whole set for a minimum donation of $7. Don’t stop now follows recently announced political compilations from 30 Songs 30 Days and Rough Trade.
