The Menzingers ring in album release with sold out Kung Fu Necktie gig
“It is not every day you get to release an album,” The Menzingers‘ singer-guitarist Tom May told a sold-out crowd at Kung Fu Necktie. “We are thrilled to share tonight with you.”
The surprise show last night was in celebration of their fifth full length album After the Party. The album, which was produced by Will Yip and released on Epitaph Records, came out just hours before the show. The Menzingers’ live set featured a bunch of songs off the new album as well as older tracks from all their records. There was definitely something for everyone.
The show also celebrated the release of a new beer the band made in collaboration with Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company. The beer, also named After the Party, is a Irish Dry Stout brewed with ReAnimator coffee. This marks the second time the band has collaborated with Neshaminy Creek; they also created a beer called The Menzinger with the brewery back in 2015.
The show was opened by Roger Harvey, who hit the crowd with some thoughtful acoustic jams. It was definitely perfect way to start the show and gear up for the loud, rowdy seat to follow.
If you didn’t get a chance to catch The Menzingers last night you can check them out when they headline The Fillmore with Jeff Rosenstock and Rozwell Kid on March 31st; tickets and more information can be found here.
