Kickstart Ted Leo and the Pharmacists’ new record and hear a medley of teasers
Ted Leo is joining his millennial counterparts and saying a big fat no to corporate music, announcing a Kickstarter campaign for his new record with his band The Pharmacists. After parting ways with Matador, Leo doesn’t want to stop doing the thing he knows and loves: making music.
I’ve thought a lot about this. I’ve always had my hands deep in the processes of making a record, promoting a record, touring on a record, etc. And I’m going to carry that knowledge, gained in the trenches, forward to keep doing this – keep making records, keep touring, keep speaking out, keep singing about all of the things that are important to us; and as part of that, keep challenging MYSELF to keep growing, keep evolving.
He plans on releasing the record in December if everything goes to plan, and seeing that the campaign is already more than half of the way to its $85,000 goal, I hope that won’t be much of a problem. If it moves you to contribute in helping a wonderful man and artist, donating some funds might even score you some goodies for your kindness. To see what’s in store, Leo released a five-minute sporadical mash of recorded material, containing bits and pieces of that classic energy we’ve been waiting so patiently for.
