Play along to Real Estate’s latest single “Stained Glass” with new tutorial video
NJ jangle rockers Real Estate have a new album out next Friday called In Mind. For the past few months, they’ve been previewing some of its tracks, including the (obviously) very smooth, phased-out “Darling”, and now, they’re following it up with a new video for “Stained Glass”. The clip continues the “How to play…” motif they began with Atlas-cut “Crime”, displaying note-by-note guitar tablature of the song in real-time. Stream it below.
Real Estate hit on their signature sound early, and since then, they’ve maintained and cultivated it like a well-kept garden. “Stained Glass” is just one of the many fruits of their careful labor, so don’t be surprised when you hear the breezy drums, chiming guitars, and gentle harmonies that somehow still continue to work for these guys. This time around they add in a pretty, harpsichord-esque synthesizer to great effect, but it’s still prime Real Estate through-and-through. No pun intended. Seriously. I’m sure they’ve heard that one a million times already, but with a sound this patient and sweet, I hope they’ll forgive me.
If you want to catch Real Estate live, they’re headlining Union Transfer on Friday, May 19th with support from fellow dream popper Frankie Cosmos. For tcikets and more information, head over to XPN’s Concert Calendar.
