We already know that Louie Louie are the queens of throwback jams on this side of the Mississippi, and they proved it yet again with their video for “I Want to Dance With You.” This time, the band wanted to play around how the visual complimented their tunes, telling Ladygunn “It would be false to retroactively assign a concept to the video. Rather than a plot line, the story is told through textures – dark and light, solid and void.”

While the video captures the sense of style — painted lips, gloved hands –and their dancefloor grooves, the track nips at the heels of The Andrew Sisters and that “you hold my heart” group from That Thing You Do! (sorry, I don’t have a large repertoire of 50s doo-wop groups). The plucky guitar floats behind Emily Robb’s entrancing vocals, bringing in modern-day hums and buzzes to keep things current. It’s another fun-sounding track of lust for love, bridging the generational gap once again between the 40-ton record lovers of yesteryear and empowered youth of today.

Watch the video below, and catch the band when they hit Ortlieb’s tonight — tickets/more information can be found on the XPN Concert Calendar.
