In typical Tiny Desk fashion, Scranton’s Tigers Jaw reinvented their songs during their June 19th performance. Exchanging electric guitars for acoustic and moving from loud rock to quiet harmonies, Ben Walsh and Brianna Collins’ brought a truly stripped down set to Bob Boilen’s famed desk.

Tigers Jaw released their fifth full-length spin last month as their major label debut on Atlantic Records’ newest imprint Black Cement. Compared to the earlier days that saw Tigers Jaws as a five-piece punk rock band, spin follows the trend from Charmer that moves into a more indie rock, almost pop space.

The Tiny Desk session showcases Walsh and Collins’ capacity for tight harmonies and transforms the driving tracks into sweet sounding ballads that retain the emotion of full-production. Check out the full set below.

Tigers Jaw is currently touring in support of spin. You can catch them at Union Transfer on June 23rd. For more information, check out the XPN Concert Calendar.
