This year, the 7th annual Sundrop Music & Arts Festival has merged with BrainFest to bring us 12 straight hours of music, food, games and more — and it’s all for a good cause. Happening from noon to midnight this Saturday at the Ukie Club in Northern Liberties, the festival will feature over 20 performances from artists of all genres, including local favorites West Philadelphia Orchestra, Resilient, Sheena & Thee Nosebleeds, Schooly D and lots more. All proceeds benefit the American Brain Tumor Association, an organization dedicated to supporting the nearly 700,000 people in the United States living with a brain tumor.
BrainFest, an annual event that raises funds and awareness for the American Brain Tumor Association, is typically held in Philly each May, but by teaming up with Sundrop, the festival’s organizers hope to make even more of an impact. Vocalist and guitarist Erin Fox from Resilient is one of the festival’s organizers. “I organized BrainFest with the help of family and friends to unite local artists for a good cause in benefiting the American Brain Tumor Association,” Fox says. “The work they do has helped saved lives, like mine, and many others who have, and are still battling, a brain tumor diagnosis.” Founded in 1973, the ABTA is the only national organization committed to raising money for and spreading awareness about brain tumor research.
Kicking off at noon with an outdoor performance from The Philadelphia School of Rock, the festival features a full day of music across three stages, plus craft vendors, food trucks, carnival games, live painters and a raffle.
