PREMIERE: The Morelings return with dreamlike new single “We Were”
Psychedelic dream-pop duo The Morelings seem like such an integral part of the Philly circuit that it’s hard to believe it’s been about three years since they first appeared on the scene. They first emerged in late 2014, recording and releasing debut EP No Sign shortly after. Since then the ethereal shoegaze-y project, founded by co-writers and performers Kedra Caroline and Matthew William and now performing live as a five-piece band, has gone on to build their music around a solid and captivating dreamy aesthetic, lodging themselves firmly into the hearts of their fans.
Today, The Morelings are back with the announcement of a debut LP, out September 26 on Mostly Venus Records (digital) and Custom Made Music (vinyl and cassette). Working with Philly producer and synth-master Jeff Zeigler, The Morelings expanded and developed their unique sound to bring us Same Century, the full-length Morelings offering we’ve all been waiting for. We’re pleased to premiere the album’s first single “We Were” and its accompanying music video, directed by local filmmaker Bob Sweeney. The video gives us a hazy glimpse into The Morelings’ self-made fantasy world, with Caroline’s airy vocals blending with the layered camerawork to cloak us in a velvety fog.
