The newly-released “Put the Kids to Bed” is the third video from Ron Gallo‘s breakout album Heavy Meta, an album  based on a dysfunctional relationship from Gallo’s past. Remnants of this relationship are very evident in the new video which, despite its simplicity, is both emotionally and visually striking.

The song itself is very hard-hitting and raw, but the setting for the video is a sunny backyard with a bed in the middle, dressed in plain white sheets — this sets the scene for a major contrast between the song and the visual. The interactions between Gallo and the woman with whom he is in the bed depict a relationship going in the wrong direction and it becomes tougher and tougher for Gallo to walk away. I highly recommend listening to the rest of Heavy Meta and tracking the themes that are very clear in the video for “Put the Kids to Bed”.

Based in Nashville these days, Gallo returns to Philly for a show at the First Unitarian Church on November 21st. Tickets and more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
