Vita and the Woolf gives “Sun Drop” a South Philly backdrop with haunting new video

With a debut LP released in June, their first European tour in the rearview, and a US tour just kicking off, it’s been a busy year for Philly’s Vita and the Woolf. Still, the local electro-pop band have found time to release a series of music videos to accompany the new LP TUNNELS — most recently is a video for the album’s opening track “Sun Drop,” which you can stream below.

Like many of Vita’s videos, “Sun Drop” — produced by Out of Town Films — makes use of Philadelphia locales, placing bandleader Jen Pague’s robust vocals in the center of a familiar backdrop — this time it’s South Philly’s Bok building. Vita and the Woolf’s signature otherworldly sound, full of sonic twists and turns, brings an eerie vibe to the historic building. The video follows Pague around the Bok’s iconic rooftop while she belts over haunting synths, her scenes juxtaposed with low-lit dancers. It’s a little bit spooky and a lot dance-along worthy — just like Vita and the Woolf does best.

Vita and the Woolf was recently featured in Red Bull Sound Select’s Philly Sound 2017 zine — pick up a copy around town. Catch them live when their fall tour makes a stop at Johnny Brenda’s on Oct. 20, along with Soul Cannon and Ellen Siberian Tiger.
