SAD Marquise drops the sweeping and soulful SEAWORLD project
Philly singer / songwriter / producer SAD Marquise has been rapid-fire with his releases this year. After catching our ear this summer in with the iPhone Pop project, the Philly artist just this weekend put out another EP on Bandcamp, SEAWORLD.
The five-song set boasts what we’ve come to know as that that typical SAD sound – wavy, melodic beats, and clever, realistic lyrics. He’s a multifaceted artist with an amalgam of tools at his disposal that he uses to create his patchwork of pop, dance, indie soul, and jazz fusion songs.
These songs are reminiscent of a soulful Frank Ocean in the vocals, with more of a synthesized soundscape to back him up. These songs sound like they seamlessly go together; this is a very thoughtfully constructed set of five songs, mixing high builds and low instrumental drops that sort of linger for a moment before picking back up again. These are five fun songs. SAD Marquise knows how to vibe well with the listener and this set is no exception.
SEAWORLD is available for download on Bandcamp; give it a listen below. SAD Marquise plays Voltage Lounge this Wednesday, October 25th; tickets and more information can be found here.
